Today's Power Girl
I was perusing DeviantArt and came across this dramatic piece of PG by Fernando Carvalho (?). I think it's a worthy entry to Today's Power Girl. (Be sure to maximize the image in your browser!)

Look What I Found
I just came across this cool post on another blog (Dimestore Dames). More PG goodness!
A Power Girl Thread
Be sure to check out the Power Girl thread on CBR. It's a great place to post and discuss thoughts on recent PG-related goodness and developments. Right now it appears as if DC is giving PG the cold shoulder. I'm sad. I guess I'm headed back to the Disney. . . I mean Marvel aisle of my lcbs (that's 'local comic book store' for you noobs).

Power Girl on eBay
On a related note, take a look at this great PG pin up by MC currently listed on eBay.
Today's Power Girl
Today's Power Girl is by MC Wyman. MC is truly a fabulous artist who regularly accepts commission requests and sells pin ups on eBay. You can see more examples of his art on his homepage here.

Today's Power Girl
Thought I forgot, didn't you? Anyway, Today's Power Girl is by Ron Frenz. Honestly, Ron draws a much better Thor (or Beta Ray Bill) than he does PG.

New Issue - Power Girl #26
Power Girl #26 came out today. I haven't purchased it yet as I haven't had a chance to go to my lcbs (local comic book shop for you noobs!) yet. Anyone read it?

Today's Power Girl
Check out this cool sketch by Brian Shearer for Today's Power Girl. Here's the color version (which I don't like quite as much).

A Brian Stelfreeze head-shot for Today's Power Girl. Not Mr. Stelfreeze's finest work but very distinctive nonetheless.

Power Girl on the Big Screen
While doing a routine Google image search for PG-related goodness (I think my search criteria this time was 'Karen Starr') I came across this:
Ms. Scarlett Johansson is a fabulous casting choice to play Power Girl. She has the acting chops and well, to be frank, the 'assets' required for the role.
Tell me these pics don't scream Karen Starr. Does anyone else have a suggestions? Let's hear them!

Why I love eBay
The Cleavage Project (The Save the Ta-Tas Foundation) presents Power Girl's cleavage.

What I Bought
Here's what I bought today (PG approved merchandise only):
JSA vs Kobra - Trautmann & Kramer ($14.99)
Power Girl - Johns & Conner ($14.99)
Power Girl: A New Beginning -Gray/Palmiotti & Conner ($17.99)
Power Girl: Aliens and Apes - Gray Palmiotti & Conner ($17.99)
Power Girl: Bomb Squad - Winick & Basri ($14.99)
That means I dropped $80.95 plus sales tax on glossy softcover PG goodness. Most of the issues collected in the below pictured trade paperbacks I already have (DC decision-makers take note!). I decided to buy them anyway because now I have everything in a nice, neat softcover format. That makes absolutely no sense I know but this is really a protest blog. Sense and I weren't even in the same city when I started Power Girl 1976.
Reviews of each volume will be posted later this month.

Power Girl Wallpaper
Here is some PG goodness brought to you because I like to share. (I'll save my thoughts on this beautiful image by Adam Hughes for later date.)
Today's Power Girl
For the inaugural Today's Power Girl I present one of the most iconic and beloved images of PG. I don't think any superhero outside of Captain America embodies American ideals and imagery more than PG. Though her history isn't steeped in Americana nor has she ever been that closely associated with the USA I firmly believe PG's personality, costume, and power set represent America at its best. (I think this is one of the reasons I instinctively adore the character.) I also feel the painting below captures my sentiments perfectly. Thank you for this beautiful image Alex Ross (Justice Society of America, #9).
Welcome
I recently learned that Power Girl (PG) will no longer have her own series. What the hell were the powers that be at DC Comics thinking! That means you Mr. Jim "too-cool-for-graduate-school" Lee and you Mr. Geoff "fancy-pants" Johns! What. Were. You. THINKING!?! After pulling out all my hair, screaming at my senile next-door neighbors, and torturing the first cute furry animal I saw (a pet gerbil named Mazel Tov) I decided to start this blog. What else could I do?
For those of you who don't know who PG is (pronounced Pee-Gee) here is a link to her Wiki page. Memorize it. (Yes, I know it doesn't make any sense. Quit complaining and eat your broccoli.) There will be a test on Thursday. Well maybe not this Thursday. Maybe not ever but I may occasionally drop a pop quiz on y'all!
Please check back for regular updates and feel free to share any comments, thoughts and/or suggestions. In the meanwhile I'll be scurrying the internet for more PG related goodness!
